h教授與m先生爭辯的主題之一,在於nomadic:最常見也最被誤解的概念(it is a concept that invites others' misreadings. like "minor," etc. )。

(although I am not after polemics. XD)

90 mins

NYR

medium_p1000586.jpg

The Cosmonaut's Last Message to the Woman He Once Loved in the Former Soviet Union 。

A summary

(Typical April weather is having Four seasons in a day, in addition, April showers is unavoidable.)

Tristan und Isolde

Holding the mirror up to vanity,不只是書,還有好多好多。

Peter Sellars

Todd May的的確非常地「readable and compelling」。

Perhaps the most central element of this template [ie, dogmatic image of thought, to conceive this world] is representation. This is how it works. The world is out there, stable and serene. In order to be conceived, it awaits our thought. Our thought represents it. That is what thought does. It mirrors what is there, in its stability and its serenity, in our ideas. Thought is nothing more than a representation of the world: a re-presentation in our mind of what is presented to us once, already, out there. [74]

Here is a way seeing the world: it is composed not of identities that form and reform themselves, but of swarms of difference that actualize themselves into specific forms of identity. Those swarms are not outside the world; they are not transcendent creators. They are of the world, as material as the identities formed from them. And they continue to exist even within the identities they form, not as identities but as difference. [114]

But these are gems that are buried in the rambling flows of the text and are barely related to the alleged encounter with Deleuze. At one point, for example, we find Zizek on a flow about the deathdrive, a notion that deeply occupies him for obvious reasons. Deleuzeʼs own dense and remarkable reworking of the death-drive in Chapter 2 of Difference and Repetition is never even mentioned. There are some odd mannerisms as well as odd claims on display in this book. [37]

The bookʼs ʻencounterʼ with Deleuze is deeply undisciplined as a work of philosophy. The book, it has to be said, is a chaotic mess. The encounter with Deleuze never effectively takes place, and so one has little idea of its desired effects. [38]

It is unfortunate that in his encounter with Deleuze he has not allowed his Lacanianism to be instructed in turn by the truths of another way of thinking and feeling. I can only advise him to persist with his trauma and to go deeper with it. [38]

XDD

*****

An introduction

This book offers a readable and compelling introduction to the work of one of the twentieth century's most important and elusive thinkers. Other books have tried to explain Deleuze in general terms. Todd May organizes his book around a central question at the heart of Deleuze's philosophy: how might one live? The author then goes on to explain how Deleuze offers a view of the cosmos as a living thing that provides ways of conducting our lives that we may not have dreamed of. Through this approach the full range of Deleuze's philosophy is covered.

XD)

Living Thing。

Cherry blossom
